Egrets 3 species

Its my job cleaning bugs from the animals the cattle egret is always with the animals.

The egrets in Egypt

There are three Egrets common in Egypt
The first photo is the head of the young Cattle egret(bubulcus ibis) in November this young bird is getting the orange stripe that runs from the crown and down the neck these are the birds I always see playing nanny to the animals, the Great white egret (Egreta alba) does almost the same thing but are usually seen when the fields are being inundated more grubs coming out of the ground, Best to be eaten alive than to drown, then there is the other .Little egret(Egretta garzetta this is more easy to identify with its black beak black legs and yellow feet.and is a water wader hence getting the photos of it by the Nile, The other is the Purple Heron (Ardea purpurea)

This is a reflection of the Little Egret. I do not enhance or modify any of my photos. what I see and shoot is what you see.

This has caught a small fish.

The Cattle Egret and Great White Egret

as I was passing the plowed field it was being inundated and the egrets where flying in.

As I have said before the farmers can walk about in the middle of the birds but as soon I I arrive with a camera they move to a safe distance. but for some reason not today. and the reason will soon be clear why they stayed close.

Usually these farmers make a bee line for me just incase I have money to give away, but today that did not happen and I was left in peace to photograph after a few minutes there was a shrill from one of the Egrets. I had heard this noise before when they saw a rat in the field next to my flat. and there was a group walking on the lane. something going on here I thought and moved to the entrance of the lane'

Hey you guys there is something in the water
.
Where

Its ok cat is coming she will catch the rat.

Don't look like a rat

oh look out beaky parker is here

whats up with you guys I was busy

lets have a look, then cat says there is too many of us here she is scared to come closer.

I will go the other side to see it properly

cant see it from there

I will take a closer look god its scary makes my head feathers stand up

Not sure what it is I wonder if its edible

by this time they where coming from everywhere and standing on both sides of the ditch

You are a silly its only a dead snake floating about

well thats enough of that must get back to clear the field of bugs

I took the snake out of the water to get a decent photo seemed it had been dead a while, most likely got caught in the water pump. it was about 30" long

The little white Egret

It was quite cold this morning at 6.30 and the egrets look like they decided it was cold too and put some black leg warmers on.
